The prestigious Surfer Poll Awards, now coming into it’s 42nd year, is akin to the Academy Awards for the surf industry. With awards for Best Cinematography, Worst Wipeout, and acknowledgments for the top ten and top five women surfers, the night is always a packed house of industry elites and their ensuing entourage. For the fourth consecutive year, M.Samuels Media produced the visual backbone for this complex awards show.
Working closely with the team at Surfer magazine, we turned a unique vision into a seamless and branded presentation of the best surfers and waves in the world. From filmed interviews and animated assets, to sound design and editing, our team put together over 25 unique categories and packaged them into a digestible format for live broadcast via Time Warner Cable and Oceanic.
M.Samuels Media also created the re-purposed web only videos posted to youtube and embedded on blogs across the internet, keeping Surfer on brand as the content was watched by the masses unable to tune in for the live show. Additional clips can be viewed at this link.
M.Samuels Media produced the 2010 Surfer Poll Awards hosted for the first time on the North Shore of Oahu In Hawaii. Set against the legendary Triple Crown and attended by the best of the best surfers in the world, this showcase of the best films and talent was truly a night to remember. Expanding it’s publication to the digital world, Surfer Magazine brought on Zinio to create digital versions of it’s monthly publication. To help market this evolution, we worked together to create a 30 sec. spot highlighting the new partnership.
