While on location shooting for the documentary “Journey”, we captured model Rose Ashton wandering about the African Bush in Tallow’s Spring/Summer swimwear and clothing line. Shot on location in Mozambique, Swaziland, and South Africa, this may be our favorite fashion edit to date.
Journey is the first installment of a 3 part film series which explores the notion of boundless expression, experience, creation and surfing. Shot on location in Mozambique, South Africa, and Swaziland, this experimental short showcases the talents of Cloudy Rhodes, a native Australian returning to her ancestral homeland of South Africa.
With a loose narrative and open direction from Shannon Clynes and Ali Mandalis of Tallow, Mark Samuels set out to capture the unique experience that is Africa. Focusing on capturing sweeping landscapes, animals, and surfing, the team created a psychedelic short that captures the innumerable nuances of the african landscape and people. We hope you enjoy.
In February of 2012, a crew from M.Samuels Media joined the girls of Tallow in the African bush to document the likes of a miss Cloudy Rhodes, Australian freesurfer and artist. In this trailer for the soon to premiere “Journey” you’ll get a taste for what’s to come from the full length short film.
Tallow gave M.Samuels Media a great deal of freedom and from that an experimental documentary was born. Part visuals, part insight- this documentary examines a moment in time when ones notions of roots come face to face with reality. Shot across the beautiful countryside of Swaziland, the dunes of Mozambique, and the world class surf of South Africa, “Journey” is a site to behold.
